Questions

You can use some of these in Growth Groups or alone:

Read through 1 Corinthians 10:1-13

  • Paul reminds the Corinthians of some of the sins that the Israelites committed in Exodus – idolatry, sexual immorality, testing Christ and grumbling (verse 6-10)
    • In what ways can we be tempted by these sins today?
    • How can we behave in the opposite way?
  • Paul says: ‘If you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall.’ How steps can we take to follow his advice?
  • What is the difference between being tempted and giving into temptation?
  • What do you think are the most difficult types of temptation to resist?
  • ‘God will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear’. How have you found this to be true in your own life?

What can I pray for?

  • Pray for our local schools – as they reach the end of a difficult academic year. Pray for children – especially those who will be changing schools or waiting for exam results.
  • Pray for our church schools in particular – St Luke’s and St James’ Primary Schools – especially for the headteachers Craig Woodward and Alice Littlehales – as well as all staff and governors – as they plan for a new year amidst the uncertainties of COVID.
  • Please pray for those you know in our church who are in employment, that they would be effective witnesses for Jesus in their workplaces. Pray too for those who are seeking employment.
