Easter 2024

You are most welcome to join us as we walk through Holy Week. There are a number of services, to help us reflect and remember Jesus’ journey to the cross and His resurrection, beginning with Palm Sunday and ending with our Easter day celebration.

Palm Sunday, the 24th March will be an all-age service. There will be fun and engaging ways to connect with everyone.

The Maundy Thursday and Good Friday (28th and 29th March) services will be quieter and more reflective.

On Holy Saturday (30th March) we will hold a prayer vigil, led by Kate and Martin Dowland, this is how they describe it:

‘Between the death of Jesus on Good Friday and the clamorous joy of Easter Day lies what some call Holy Saturday, a day of uncertainty in the Gospel Story, a quiet day to contemplate Good Friday without the hope as yet of Easter Day.

St James’ Church will be open from 7-8pm on this year’s Holy Saturday, the 30th March, for an hour of
contemplation and reflection. There will be a “thought” or reading on the quarter hour, starting at 7pm. In between is silence for your personal prayer. Feel free to come for as much or as little of the time as you wish or can manage.’
